The purpose of the NNMC Staff Association and Senate:

To represent the interests of all staff and serve as a vital advisory body on matters related to the general welfare, success, and engagement of staff at Northern New Mexico College. The Staff Association shall serve as a representative voice for NNMC staff in communication with college leadership. The Staff Senate is the governing body of the Association.

The Staff Association does not replace or override NNMC policies and procedures but may make recommendations for their adoption or amendment. The Association may also advocate for improvements in working conditions, compensation, and staff engagement. The Association shall not override collective bargaining agreements or union representation where applicable, and does not have authority over matters covered by existing labor contracts.

Standing Committees

  • Executive Committee
    • Comprised of the President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer
  • President’s Staff Advisory Committee (PSAC)
    • To serve on the President’s Staff Advisory Committee and regularly report and advise the executive leadership team. This committee shall include the President and two Senators as elected by the Senate in the first meeting of the year. No more than one member of any area may be represented.
  • Budget

  • Health, Safety, and Campus Climate
    • To Be Determined
  • Triple P - Personnel, Policies, and Procedures: 
    • To review, address, and advise on issues and matters related to personnel, policies, and procedures to enhance the well-being of NNMC employees.
  • Space / Infrastructure / Beautification:
    • The Space Infrastructure and Beautification Committee of the NNMC Staff Senate advises, supports, and provides staff-centered input on matters related to campus space utilization, infrastructure effectiveness, and physical environment planning.

      The committee reviews and offers recommendations concerning space availability, functionality, safety, accessibility, storage capacity, campus beautification, public art, and institutional legacy features.

      Its purpose is to promote thoughtful, equitable, and sustainable use of campus spaces that supports the needs of students, staff, faculty, and the broader college community. The committee is committed to encouraging transparent, inclusive, and collaborative decision-making processes, and to elevating staff perspectives in planning and improvement efforts that shape the campus environment.”
